Lisa -- Thank you for managing the compost. I was wondering if you could give us a sense of how small we need to chop the fruit and vegetable waste? Thanks!
Kitchen waste does not need to be chopped up really. It's usually already fairly small. The only things that tend to survive in our home composter are avocado pits and skin and the occasional mango seed. Perhaps if you have a long thick broccoli stem, you could whack it in half. At home we also do a wider variety of foods including old bread, leftover cooked veggies, rice, etc, paper towels. I think the ComposTumbler could easily handle these as well.
